Sophistry

That’s President Joe Biden’s (D) current argument regarding the Wuhan Virus and by extension the Delta variant of the virus.

The virus knows no boundaries. You can’t build a wall high enough to keep it out. There is no wall high enough or ocean wide enough to keep us safe from a vaccination in other—from the COVID-19 in other countries.
In fact, just like the original virus that caused COVID-19, the Delta variant came from abroad. As long as the virus continue to rage outside the United States, potentially more dangerous variants could arrive at our shores again.

There’s a hint there, but Biden—and his border czar-ette, co-President Kamala Harris (D) and his HHS (sort of) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas—refuse to see it.

It’s true enough that neither high walls nor broad oceans (nor, perhaps, more localized masks) can protect us from the virus (I’ll elide the already low risk for the healthy among us aspect of protection).

On the other hand, Biden and his two cohorts have deliberately, with careful forethought, thrown open our borders, especially our southern one, to any and all comers, infected or not, criminal or not, smuggler or trafficker or not, vetted or not.

Overall, more than 1 million illegal immigrants have been apprehended at the US-Mexico border between October 2020 and June 2021.

Just from McAllen, TX:

As these temporarily admitted immigrants are released, the federal government does not test them for COVID-19 or provide assistance in contacting relatives or sponsors living in the United States to make arrangements for temporary housing.

And

Since mid-February of 2021 there have been over 7,000 confirmed COVID-19 positive immigrants released into the City of McAllen by CBP, including over 1,500 new cases in the past seven days [28 Jul-3 Aug].

Biden’s, et al., argument is a cynically offered sophistry. We can protect ourselves from the virus by protecting our nation from the carriers of the virus, those thousands of illegal aliens who are carriers. Against those carriers, walls are effective.

It’s time to finish the wall construction. It’s time to reestablish control over our borders. It’s time to reassert control over who comes into our nation.

It’s time to be a nation again.

Arrogance of the PRC

Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman, meeting with the People’s Republic of China’s Foreign Minister Wang and Vice Foreign Minister Xie Fang, got what the PRC thinks are marching orders for the United States.

Among the concerns Sherman raised were

…the crimes against humanity in Xinjiang, the anti-democratic crackdown in Hong Kong, provocative military actions in the Taiwan Strait.

That produced the “marching order” of particular interest here. Deputy Director of the Foreign Ministry Information Department of the People’s Republic of China, Zhao Lijian:

[The United States] must not infringe on China’s national sovereignty, let alone undermining China’s territorial integrity[.]

Hence the arrogance. Or outright dishonesty. The Republic of China, and the associated Taiwan Strait, have nothing to do with the PRC’s territorial integrity or national sovereignty. The PRC’s genocide in Xinjiang has nothing to do with the PRC’s territorial integrity or national sovereignty. The assault on Hong Kong’s semi-autonomy, the PRC’s cynical welching on its agreement regarding Hong Kong’s then-future and the city’s present and current future, have nothing to do with the PRC’s territorial integrity or national sovereignty.

And I add, since Sherman (or her boss or her boss’ boss) seems to have been too timid to raise the matters, occupied Tibet has nothing to do with the PRC’s territorial integrity or national sovereignty. The South and East China Seas, along with the islands in them, have nothing to do with the PRC’s territorial integrity or national sovereignty. The PRC’s border violations against Bhutan and India have nothing to do with the PRC’s territorial integrity or national sovereignty.

One Outcome

…of President Joe Biden’s (D) timidity.

Russia is testing hypersonic cruise missiles in the White Sea, and announcing that they’re nuclear capable. The Russian Embassy in the US now says

We would like to remind @PentagonPressSec that potential deployment of any [American flag] hypersonic [missile] in Europe would be extremely destabilizing. Their short flight time would leave [Russian flag] little to no decision time and raise the likelihood of inadvertent conflict.

“We’re arming in Europe with nuclear capable hypersonic cruise missiles. You stay out. Be too bad if something was to happen.”

Alongside that, the People’s Republic of China is threatening Japan with nuclear destruction if that nation dares object to the PRC’s conquering and occupation of the Republic of China, as the PRC is more and more openly plotting to do.

This comes as Biden repeatedly barks loudly from the safety of his White House porch while doing nothing to back his yapping.

Timidity breeds far more and more dangerous contempt than does familiarity.

On the Verge

…not only regarding the vast damage that will be done to our economy by President Joe Biden (D) and his deliberately anti-bipartisan Progressive-Democrat cronies with their soon to be unilaterally inflicted spend- and tax-o-rama bills.

Biden’s Progressive-Democrat Treasury Secretary is about to surrender American national sovereignty to an international consortium in the form of putting our Congress’ Constitutionally mandated taxing authority under the control of an international taxing agreement.

The Wall Street Journal worries about Congress’ careful silence on the matter and the paper’s editors are right.

The only saving grace, such as it is, to Yellen’s behavior and Congress’ complicit silence is that Yellen and her cronies will be able to enter into such disastrous tax agreement only via a Biden-executed Executive Agreement, and that sort of thing can be undone with a pen by the next President. The Yellen Tax Abrogation will not become a treaty so long as there are 34 Senators who care about American national sovereignty.

The destruction wreaked in the interim, though, will be broad and deep.

PRC Regulation of US-Listed PRC Companies

The Cyberspace Administration of China is moving to extend its regulation of PRC companies to include those listed on American exchanges. That’s all well and good; the US looks to regulate American companies that are listed on foreign exchanges.

However.

All companies domiciled or headquartered in the People’s Republic of China became, formally, arms of the PRC’s intelligence community under that nation’s 2017 intelligence law.

No PRC company should be allowed to list on an American exchange, and those currently listed should be delisted.

Beyond that, no PRC company should be allowed to acquire, or gain a stake of any size in, any American company, nor should any PRC company be allowed to partner in any way with any American company.

The risks to the safety of intellectual property, the technology risks, the national security risks are simply too great.
