“All of this has never happened before”

The NLMSM, of which Chris Wallace is a prominent example, is whining over President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump speaking at the RNC Convention from White House property and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo addressing the convention from Jerusalem.

All of this has never happened before….

Chris Wallace bleated Tuesday night. He went on:

I don’t know what personal capacity a secretary of state has[.]

Because in his petty self-importance, if he doesn’t know the capacity, it perforce must not exist.

More important than Wallace’s or the NLMSM’s oblivious self-importance, though is this concept of “never happened before.” Precedence matters in law. Tradition can be—can be—a useful guide.

However, everything humanity, or any individual, has ever done at one point had never happened before, and subsequent to that—since traditions must have a first instance—everything new that’s ever been done has been a deviation from tradition.

If we never did anything for the first time, we’d still be knocking around the savannah competing with more powerful scavengers for predators’ left-overs. We wouldn’t even have any traditions from which to deviate.

It would be amusing, if it weren’t so sad, this pressman’s and these pressmen’s obsession with precedence.

Alphabet’s Political Bias

…made manifest once again, this time via YouTube, which is wholly owned by Google, which in turn is wholly owned by Alphabet.

During Joe Biden’s presidential nomination acceptance speech Thursday night, both his personal YouTube page and the Democratic Party’s YouTube page saw strong, negative reactions from live audiences. In fact, “Dislikes” outnumbered “Likes,” in real time.
Yet both pages’ “Dislikes” mysteriously dropped in the hours after the Democratic National Convention (DNC) had concluded.

Just The News cited carefully unnamed “experts” positing that

[t]he removed Dislikes could be a signal that YouTube is concerned about fake accounts or bots trying to influence the election or indicative of something else[.]

Of course. But with Alphabet’s history of political bias and censorship, the anonymous claim is hard to take seriously. It’s especially hard to take this claim seriously with Alphabet, through its Google, refusing to answer questions about the disappearances.

Portland’s Wheeler Rioters

Here’s another example of the Wheeler Rioters’ execution of Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan’s (D) Summer of Love.

On night 82 of the riots, police reported a marauding mob of “several hundred” rioters set fire to the Multnomah County Building just across the river from their previous favorite targets in downtown Portland. That’s where the county commission holds its meetings, social services are doled out, and executives with the sheriff’s office and other top executives have their offices.

But wait—there’s more:

It also turns out that it’s where the region’s store of COVID-fighting personal protection equipment (PPE) is stored.

The region’s stockpile, not just Portland’s. And the stockpile was on the ground floor.

It strains credulity to think that these rioters—especially since they’re operating not just with Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler’s (D) tacit condoning, but with Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt’s active support (he’s announced that he won’t prosecute “petty” crimes)—didn’t know the contents of their arson target.

This also is another example of the rioting and destruction that Progressive-Democrats refused to decry throughout their Party’s nominating convention.

“There’s Little Democratic Center Left to Hold”

Several letter writers in a recent The Wall Street Journal Letters section have expressed that sentiment. This version is typical:

The Democratic Party is solidly under leftist control.

Of course, Party has a center to hold. The perception that there is not, however, is illustrative of the situation.

The Progressive-Democratic Party as a whole has moved left, a long way left. The center of Party is in that far left region, and the Progressives in Party have taken it there. Those Progressives include the top of the present ticket.

Kamala Harris, as one other letter writer pointed out at one time or another, has endorsed five of the 11 progressive positions while rejecting only 2: abolishing ICE and supporting the anti-Israel BDS movement.  Joe Biden at the start of his campaign bragged that he was the farthest left of all of the then-candidates, and in a recent speech, he bragged further that if he’s able to enact his policies, he’d be the most Progressive President since FDR.

It’s clear that Party has abandoned any pretense of being anywhere near the nation’s political center, but it most assuredly has its own center, in all its infamy.

The Progressive-Democratic Party Convention

The main themes of Party’s convention were these:

President Donald Trump is a bad man.

We’re a diverse party, dammit!

We need votes.

Trump is bad.

The economy is bad.

Coronavirus is Trump’s fault.

Because Trump is bad.

We need votes.

America is racist.

Kamala Harris has a cool family (except for her son, who didn’t appear in the family paeons).

Joe Biden is a cool father.

We need votes.

America is failing on the world stage.

Did we mention Trump is bad? And we need votes?

Not a single word on Progressive-Democrat policies—not even a mention of Party’s platform. Just glittering, empty generalities about how Party intends to circumscribe individual liberties and rights: seizing our firearms and dictating to us what weapons we will be permitted to keep and Bear and our purpose in the keeping and bearing; open borders and free welfare for illegal aliens while thus diluting the rights and gains of native Americans and immigrants who came legally; their Green New Deal, which severely limits Americans’ access to reliable energy and transportation fuels, as California is demonstrating with its green energy-dependent rolling blackouts; and child care as infrastructure for families while their Wuhan Virus-related lockdowns prevents families from going back to work at all. Not a word, carefully not a word, on how they intend to implement any of these glitters.

Not a single syllable about the violence wracking all those Progressive-Democrat-run cities, cities like Portland, Seattle, New York City, Baltimore, Chicago.

But it’ll be a disaster if Trump is elected and we’re not. Because we’re so cool.
