Yet Another Democrat’s Disregard for An Inconvenient Law
Recall that Governor Terry McAuliffe (D, VA) granted en masse a restoral of the right to vote to some 200,000 convicted felons, and the Virginia Supreme Court said Virginia law didn’t allow that: any such restoral had to come only after individual, case by case evaluation of each felon separately from any other felons.
McAuliffe replied that he “cannot accept” the ruling. He called it a “political decision” that “reminded” him of Bush v Gore and that the justices were “scared” of the legislature. He has since acted on his defiance by restoring rights to some 13,000 felons who had already registered to vote when the state Supreme Court’s decision invalidated his executive order.
McAuliffe also is insisting that he’ll restore the vote to the remaining 200,000 before he’s out of the Governor’s mansion.
In addition to that contempt of—and for—Virginia’s Supreme Court, his charge that the Supremes were scared is nothing but an FDR-esque effort to intimidate those Justices to rule more…suitably…in future.
The Wall Street Journal put it succinctly at the above link:
McAuliffe has nullified the Virginia Constitution’s guidelines on felon voting simply because he dislikes those rules.
And
At stake is whether an executive can first rewrite the law in defiance of the legislature and then do what he wants anyway in defiance of a court.
This is the risk we run from a Clinton extension in 2017 of the Democrats’ rule over our nation.
Refugees
President Barack Obama (D) intends to bring even more refugees into the nation, 30% more, to the tune of 110,000, of which 40,000 would be from the Middle and South Asia regions. He intends to start this in just a couple of weeks, 1 October, the start of the new fiscal year.
I’m one of those that believes that we have an obligation to see to the welfare of refugees from war zones and from political persecution. But that seeing to does not, of necessity, include accepting refugees into our nation. That’s an especially dangerous thing to do when we can’t adequately vet those we’re allowing in, to ensure as well as possible that we’ve screened out as many terrorists masquerading themselves as refugees as we can. It’s also an especially dangerous thing to do when it’s done by an administration that insists that our national borders be open and unguarded.
Hmm….
President Barack Obama’s (D) former Senior Advisor, David Axelrod, commented on Democratic Party Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s near-collapse and subsequent release of the claim that she’d been diagnosed with pneumonia two days prior:
Antibiotics can take care of pneumonia. What’s the cure for an unhealthy penchant for privacy that repeatedly creates unnecessary problems?
He’s right, but I have a few questions about his piping up.
Why? What’s his motive, what does he gain from breaking Democratic ranks?
Or is he just asking questions, and it’s on Clinton to provide answers? This is what he did when he smeared the Chamber of Commerce a few years ago:
CBS chief Washington correspondent Bob Schieffer: Mr Axelrod, do you have any evidence that it’s [alleged illegal foreign contributions to the Chamber] anything other than peanuts?
Axelrod: Well, do you have any evidence that it’s not, Bob?
Or is he continuing his grudge against the Clintons over their conflicts during the 2008 Democratic Primary campaign?
Or is he just tired of not being in the spotlight, and is angling for more attention now that his BFF Obama’s days are numbered?
Another Obama Policy
…that Democratic Party Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton intends to continue and to extend further.
Recall then-Democratic Party Presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama’s (IL) remark about millions of honest Americans—in front of an audience of 1%-ers in San Francisco:
And it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.
Here’s Democratic Party Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton about millions of honest Americans—in front of an audience of 1%-ers, this time in New York:
[Y]ou could put half of Trump supporters into what I call the “Basket of Deplorables.”
Right? The racists, sexists, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic, you name it….
Now, some of those folks—they are irredeemable, but thankfully they are not America.
In fact, she’s not even waiting until she’s in office to extend this Party policy of character assassination and demeaning of anyone—millions of us—who don’t support her or her Democratic Party.
This is what the Democratic Party thinks of honest Americans today. Imagine how a Democratic Party that continues to rule over America in 2017 will treat us.
