The National Museum of African American History and Culture opened last month in Washington—and missing from the four floors of exhibits is any reference to [Justice Clarence] Thomas’ personal and judicial legacy, shocking for perhaps the second most powerful black political figure in America, after President Obama.
They do, though, have a large section of the woman who tried to smear Thomas and block his confirmation to the Supreme Court. Justice Thomas’ response to that attempt and to the complicity of the Democratic Party Senators complicit in the attempt puts it best:
This is a circus. It’s a national disgrace. And from my standpoint, as a black American, it is a high-tech lynching for uppity blacks who in any way deign to think for themselves … and it is a message that unless you kowtow to an old order, this is what will happen to you.
Democrats haven’t changed in the 25 years since, either; they have, in fact, broadened their smear efforts. See, for instance, the routine Uncle Tom characterizations of ex-Republican National Committee Chairman and American who was black Michael Steele. See, too, their slut characterization of conservative ex-Vice Presidential candidate and American who was a woman Sarah Palin.
The broadening strikes me more as stupidity than bigotry. Or they just hate anyone who doesn’t agree with them.
