For the Children

Liberals love their programs “for the children;” albeit they’re carefully paid for with OPM. Take, for instance Michelle Obama’s school lunch program, which has become a Federal government mandate—carefully paid for by the States and the school districts. But never mind, it’s for the children.

Now we get this. A food service worker in the Irving Middle School in Pocatello, ID, gave a lunch to a 12-yr-old girl who had no money to pay for it. The lunch cost all of $1.70, and the food service worker offered to pay the bill for the child.

No dice, said District 25 Director of Human Resources, Susan Petit. You’re fired, she said in her letter telling the worker that she’d been fired.

It’s for the children.

Update: The Pocatello/Chubbuck School District No 25 has apparently released a statement (it’s not available on the District’s Web site as I write this) that offers the food service worker her job back.  Buried at the bottom of the 600+ word statement was this sentence:

The District has been in communication with Ms. Bowden extending an opportunity for her to return to employment with the District.

However, as of last night, the food service worker hadn’t actually heard anything from the District, much less anything about the details of this “opportunity.”

The Tolerance of the Left

A board member of the ACLU’s Colorado branch (ex-member, now) has resigned after he actively advocated the murder of those who disagree with the Left.

Loring Wirbel, on his Facebook page, posted

The thing is, we have to really reach out to those who might consider voting for Trump and say, “This is Goebbels. This is the final solution. If you are voting for him I will have to shoot you before Election Day.” They’re not going to listen to reason, so when justice is gone, there’s always force…

Naturally, the Colorado ACLU denied complicity:

[The Colorado ACLU] does not condone the recent personal Facebook post of regional volunteer Loring Wirbel.

Right. And we believe them.

It isn’t just a disgruntled ex-ACLU member, either. Fern Delise, of Fountain, CO:

It’s tempting to walk into a republican party meeting with my dead husband’s gun and just start shooting people.

Tolerance, all right. Left-style.

“Lynch” is a Bad Word?

Precious snowflakes at Lebanon Valley College in Pennsylvania want the school to rename the school’s Lynch Memorial Hall. The word “lynch” is racist, you see.

Never mind that Clyde Lynch, for whom the building was named was the President of the college for 18 years.

So, should our Attorney General change her name, too? After all, it seems that the very names, when disapproved by a special few, are perforce racist. And she’s in a position to do the hanging.

Does Democratic Party Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton speak the same language the rest of us Americans do? Does anyone on the Left?

Asked about the terms “radical Islamist” and “radical form of Islam,” she, like her Left constituents and supporters, says you can’t use those terms. On ABC‘s This Week Sunday, she said,

I don’t want to do that [use those terms] because, No. 1, it doesn’t do justice to the vast numbers of Muslims in our own country and around the world who are peaceful people[.]

In what way does it do anything to “vast numbers of Muslims…who are peaceful?” In the American version of English, those modifiers—by definition—limit the ones being discussed in those terms to a carefully restricted subset of Muslims. Those modifiers explicitly exclude “vast numbers of Muslims” from the characterization.

It seems part of the problem with trying to reach agreements with anyone from the Left is that they don’t even speak the same language. They appear to have napped through their grammar school lessons.

Apology and Action

I would like to publicly renew my apology for this breach of trust and affirm my commitment to restoring it[.]

That’s what Secret Service Director Joseph Clancy said to a joint session of the House and Senate Homeland Security committees. The hearing focused on the Secret Service’s illegal search of Congressman Jason Chaffetz’ (R, UT) background. He also told the session that “dozens were being disciplined.” That discipline is limited to some agents—who are getting a whole 3-12 days of suspension—while no supervisors have been sanctioned.

We don’t even get to know who these few wrist-slappees are.

Clancy’s words of apology are exactly that: words. Nothing more. What is Clancy actually doing to clean up this stopped up sewer? Apparently not much.
