Kaepernick taking a knee can be a useful symbol—but with what concrete action is he linking it?
As Taunton noted, acts of protest need at least to be connected to the thing protested, they need to be concrete as well as symbolic.
To which I add, acts of protest are not that when all they are are acts of ego.

Right? The racists, sexists, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic, you name it….
Now, some of those folks—they are irredeemable, but thankfully they are not America.
In fact, she’s not even waiting until she’s in office to extend this Party policy of character assassination and demeaning of anyone—millions of us—who don’t support her or her Democratic Party.
This is what the Democratic Party thinks of honest Americans today. Imagine how a Democratic Party that continues to rule over America in 2017 will treat us.
President Obama and his Democratic allies are seizing on the exodus of private insurers from ObamaCare markets to renew their push for a so-called “public option[.]”
Never mind that the revival of this push is a direct result of the broad, expensive failure that is those same Know Betters’ Obamacare. No, when government fails as miserably as it has done with Obamacare, the only right answer is the Progressive answer: more government. A bigger hammer.
We can’t have competition and private enterprise do this. We gotta have Know Betters in Government do this; us mere citizens can’t be trusted with such weighty matters.

Now she’s claiming to apologize for her bigoted slur.
Clinton…said: “I regret saying ‘half’—that was wrong. But let’s be clear, what’s really ‘deplorable’ is that Donald Trump hired a major advocate for the so-called ‘alt-right’ movement to run his campaign and that David Duke and other white supremacists see him as a champion of their values.”
Look closely at that statement. Clinton said she regrets—not apologizes for—the number of folks whom she’s accused of being racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic—you name it. There’s not a syllable of apology for her actual slur.
Consider, too, that while she’s decrying David Duke’s approval of Trump, an approval Trump has repudiated, Clinton is endorsed by the KKK’s Grand Dragon, Will Quigg, and she’s accepted, with her silence on the matter, that endorsement.
Masquerading that statement as an apology is a lie.
Also keep in mind that her running mate, Senator Tim Kaine (D, VA) says her “apology” is unwarranted, she was right the first time.
With this pair saying that anyone not on their bandwagon is a bigot of one sort or another (to say nothing about lying about “apologizing” and saying even the false apology was unnecessary), what can we expect from them were they to be elected this fall?
