What’s Scaring Her So Much?

Democratic Party Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, with the active support of the State Department which she used to lead, is refusing to release all of her State Department daily schedules until after the elections this fall.  These schedules would reveal with whom she met, for how long, and on what (claimed) subjects.  While some of those schedules have been released already (not voluntarily, but only under court order pursuant to an AP FOIA request that had to be satisfied via AP’s lawsuit), she—and State—are slow walking the release of the rest.  Now why would that be?

Recall that the daily schedules so far released demonstrate that while Secretary of State, Clinton met with or had telephone conversations with thousands of diplomats, other foreign dignitaries, Federal employees, and the like.  The released schedules also demonstrate that Clinton met with 154 private individuals, 85 of whom had given, in aggregate, more than $155 million to her Clinton Foundation.

The Clinton campaign has accused the AP of “cherry picking” schedules by focusing on those 154 individuals, saying that these folks are a tiny per centage of the meetings and telephone calls Clinton had as Secretary of State.

The campaign is correct, as a matter of third grade arithmetic, that those private individuals are a tiny per centage of the total.  What the campaign is carefully ignoring, though, is that Secretary Clinton was obligated to meet or otherwise talk with those thousands of diplomats, other foreign dignitaries, Federal employees, and the like.

What the campaign also is carefully ignoring is that Secretary Clinton was obligated to meet or otherwise talk with zero per cent of those 154 individuals; instead those 154 represent 100% of a population 55% of whom had given her Foundation those $155+ million.

This is of a piece with Clinton’s private email server, on which she conducted official State Department business, and which she had set up for the avowed purpose of concealing her emails from public scrutiny.

Democrats and Security

First there was Democratic Party Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s unsecured, personal and private email server on which she conducted official State Department business and which she used for handling over 2,000 classified emails—some of which also were marked classified.

Then there was the breathtakingly easy hack of Democratic National Committee email servers.

Then there was the similarly breathtakingly easy hack of Democratic National Convention Committee email servers.

Now there’s this.

[I]n 2009, Hillary Clinton’s top aide mistakenly left potentially classified papers in the front seat of the car she was traveling in.

Huma Abedin realized the significance of her error and sent an email to a fellow Clinton staffer asking that the papers be moved to the trunk.

“I’m going to have ambassador ride on next drive,” she wrote on July 20, 2009. “There’s a bunch of burn stuff in the pocket of my front seat.”

This displays an utter lack of concern by this highly experienced Clinton Aide for the classified documents with which care she’d been entrusted, both in her abandoning them on the front seat of her car and in her request to have them stored (however temporarily) in the unsecured trunk of her unsecured car rather than have them properly taken under control.

There’s also no indication Abedin gave any thought to whether her colleague had either the clearance or the need to know (both of which are necessary before an individual can be allowed to handle classified material) before she requested him to take possession of those abandoned documents.

Nor is there any indication that the unnamed staffer ever was debriefed on his handling of the documents.

There clearly were no sanctions applied to Abedin for her extreme carelessness in her handling of these classified documents.

It seems pretty evident that Democrats, at least senior Democrats, don’t understand security, or they don’t care about security.  Either way, our nation cannot afford such as these in our government.

Clintons, Clinton Foundation, and Donations

Democratic Party Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is making the claim, through her campaign staff, that the Clinton Foundation will stop taking donations from foreign countries or from corporations in the event she’s elected President.

Republican Party Presidential candidate Donald Trump and his campaign organization are pointing out a loophole in that Clinton commitment: the promised ban carefully does not include smaller Clinton-tied charities like Alliance for a Healthier Generation, Clinton Giustra Enterprise Partnership, and Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), among others.

There’s another loophole in Clinton’s commitment, though.  The Clinton Foundation would be permitted to accept donations (only) from

US citizens and independent charities[.]

Notice that.  Foreign governments and other foreign favor-seekers would have only to make their donations to any of a number of those “independent charities,” which then would pass along the money to the Clinton Foundation.  Wall Street donors and their like, US citizens for the most part, can still buy their favors directly through the Clinton Foundation.  That’s a loophole you could drive a truck through.

“Commitment,” indeed.  How very Clinton-esque.

Free Speech Democrat Style

Donald Trump roiled Minnesota politics for a few hours Friday night without ever showing his face in public.

Beginning with the Democrats’ Minneapolis house organ the Star Tribune, which opened their coverage of a fund raising meeting by Republican Party Presidential candidate Donald Trump in the city over the weekend with that paragraph.

It’s not just the paper, though; Democrat protestors showed how deeply embedded in the party is disdain for actual free speech.

Later in the evening, a smaller contingent grew unruly. Some fundraiser attendees were pushed and jostled, spit on and verbally harassed as they left the convention center.

And

Many in the later group [the group of violent protestors] hid their faces behind scarves.

And

There was…minor damage, including graffiti on the walls of the Convention Center, and officers had to escort Trump supporters in and out of the lobby because they were being harshly confronted[.]

If you don’t sit down and shut up, we’ll deal with you.  You’re not Democrats.

Openness and Accessibility Democrat Style

Republican Party Vice Presidential candidate Mike Pence talked with Fox and Friends‘ Ainsley Earhardt about Democratic Party Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and her decision not to talk openly and freely to the press or to the American people, saying this:

It’s time for her to go on the record.  Look, Hillary is in hiding.  Donald Trump is everywhere.  And I think she’s gone more than 250 days without a press conference.  You know, it’s time for her to step forward and to answer these questions [of Judicial Watch’s about her emails that a Federal judge has ruled she must answer under oath], and not just these questions, but questions about the Clinton Foundation.  Now we hear that the Clintons are going to stop fund raising for the Clinton Foundation if she’s elected President, presumably because that would be a conflict of interest.  Well, the American people wonder why wasn’t it a conflict of interest when she was Secretary of State, the third ranking Constitutional officer in charge of our foreign policy?

Republican Party Presidential candidate Donald Trump and Pence were just back from visiting the flood devastation of Baton Rouge.  President Barack Obama (D) refused to cut short his Massachusetts(!) golfing vacation to visit with the folks there or so send his representatives (because his own presence would be disruptive, a reason then-Senator Obama and his fellow Democrats pooh-poohed when President George Bush the Younger sent his representatives instead of going personally); although he says he’ll go “later.”  Clinton and Kaine have so far refused even to say they’ll visit at all.

Why are Democrats so reluctant to get down in the trenches with the people whose lives have been so badly disrupted, whose homes have been ravaged?  Don’t they care about these people?

It’s interesting to note, too, that Fox and Friends asked to interview Democratic Party Vice Presidential candidate Tim Kaine on the same matters: he refused.

It makes one wonder: of what are Clinton and Kaine, and the Democrats generally, so terrified that they won’t talk with Americans or with the press in anything other than canned speeches?  Why are they so afraid of openness, of free-wheeling discussions that they can’t control?

Like what he has to say or how he says it, or not, but Trump is indeed out there talking with anyone and everyone.  He’s not afraid.
