Clinton-2 vs Obama-3

That’s the hope expressed by Phil Gramm and Mike Solon in their Tuesday op-ed in The Wall Street Journal.

By electing a divided government, Americans may get what they appear to want: a Biden first term that’s more like Bill Clinton’s second term than a third term for Barack Obama.

That is in no way a done deal. The current situation is not at all comparable to the Clinton situation. Biden’s handlers have no inclination whatsoever to move off their far-left ideology, much less the far-left policies they intend for enacting that ideology.

Nor have they any willingness to compromise, as Ocasio-Cortez has made blatantly clear.

The best we can hope for is a Republican-majority Senate and enough party unity to say “No” for four years.

‘Course a gridlocked government isn’t a bad thing.

Americans Are Unimportant

And so is our nation of America unimportant. That’s the position of Progressive-Democratic Party Presidential candidate Joe Biden, as espoused by his Wuhan Virus advisor, Zeke Emanuel.

The Biden/Emanuel model for distribution of a vaccine to deal with this virus

supports distributing the vaccine internationally, which means giving away or selling doses of the vaccine before it’s available to every citizen in that country….

Americans who are traditionally left behind—for any reason, good, bad, or indifferent—will continue to be left behind by this Progressive-Democrat position. For one more reason: some Americans just don’t matter as much as other nations’ citizens.

Associative ties only justify a government’s giving some priority to its own citizens, not absolute priority….

Associative ties. Because we’re not an actual nation whose citizens have binds of patriotism among each other and with that nation, a nation created by a mutually agreed social compact. We’re just a collection of folks who happen to be physically, geographically collocated.

But this is entirely consistent with a Party that views minority Americans not as actual people but merely as crops of votes to be harvested periodically. This is entirely consistent with a Party that disparages national sovereignty in favor of extra-national institutions.

Mutual Trust

…requires mutuality. Progressive-Democratic Party Presidential candidate Joe Biden is preaching unity, bipartisanship, and trust. However, The Wall Street Journal, in its Tuesday edition, noted that

Biden will be under intense scrutiny from his left flank, which is already calling on him to shun incremental change in favor of an ambitious agenda and to populate his administration with progressives.

However.

Biden has shown himself since to be utterly untrustworthy.

His positions are unreliable; he’s flip-flopped on far too many principles, from the Hyde Amendment, to fracking bans, to the Green New Deal, and more.

forge deals in which each side wins something

He no longer adheres to that–it’s the Progressive-Democrat way or nothing all. That’s House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D, CA) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s (D, NY) position, and Biden has not once disputed with them over that. Not with a single syllable.

Operate in confidentiality

But only Progressive-Democrat confidentiality. Congressmen Adam Schiff (D, CA) and Jerry Nadler (D, NY), among many others, leak freely and selectively from confidential meetings. Here, too, Biden is carefully silent. He offers not a syllable of objection to such breaches, not a syllable of objection to leaks by others of confidential Presidential phone calls between President Donald Trump and other heads of state.

Attack ideas and not personalities

Biden has had nothing but ad hominem smears against Trump throughout his campaign, from his primary contests to his  general election campaign.

His fellow Progressive-Democrats and his extra-Party supporters on the Left are busily compiling enemies lists of all worked for Trump or supported him—all 72 million of us, since they include voters. Biden actively supports these tools of hatred and political tyranny with his considered decision to not denounce the lists and his list makers.

It’s not possible to arrive at bipartisan proposals with so untrustworthy a negotiating “partner.”

There can be no trust of Biden since he has no trust of us.

National Healing

It has nothing to do with the Progressive-Democratic Party. And that includes Party’s head, Joe Biden.

Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin, who tweeted:  ”Any R now promoting rejection of an election or calling to not to follow the will of voters or making baseless allegations of fraud should never serve in office, join a corporate board, find a faculty position or be accepted into ‘polite’ society. We have a list.”

And this from Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortes (D, NY):

Is anyone archiving these Trump sycophants for when they try to downplay or deny their complicity in the future? I foresee decent probability of many deleted Tweets, writings, photos in the future

Enemies lists aren’t consistent with healing, or even a desire to heal.

Biden’s slurs against blacks—”superpredators” and if they don’t support him, “they ain’t black”—his not wanting his kids growing up in “mixed” neighborhoods; his open lies about Trump’s attitude toward our soldiers, repeating a magazine’s debunked smears; and his refusal to condemn BLM or antifa along with his claim that 15% of Americans are “just no good:” it’s beyond the pale to expect such a bigot to be connected in any way with healing.
