President Joe Biden (D) keeps threatening sanctions if Russian President Vladimir Putin invades Ukraine. Putin keeps being unimpressed.

American President Joe Biden continues to threaten economic sanctions and trade restrictions on Russia if it further invades Ukraine, while Russian President Vladimir Putin appears undeterred by the warnings.

On the one hand, a porch dog is yapping.

On the other hand, with some apologies to Merle Haggard, Putin is continuing.

Or, with apologies to Tina Turner:

So we’re going to take the beginning of this song
And do it easy
Then we’re going to do the finish…rough

Because no one, least of all Putin (or PRC President Xi Jinping, who’s enjoying the performances), takes Biden-Harris seriously. Ex-President Barack Obama made our nation a laughingstock. Biden-Harris is just, plain dangerous.

Much of His Policy Still Unknown

Aaron Kliegman, in his Saturday piece for Just the News, expressed considerable dismay over President Joe Biden’s (D) foreign policy vis-à-vis northern Korea: much of that policy is still unknown, he wrote.

I think the situation is much worse, and much broader than that.

Biden-Harris’ foreign policy as a whole is still unknown. It’s unknown because Biden-Harris has none; he’s operating with a James Joyce-ian stream of conscious, but without Joyce’s level of awareness.

This lack of policy, this streaming reaction muddle, is demonstrated by the mess Biden-Harris made of our withdrawal from Afghanistan; the mess he’s making of our relationship with the Republic of China; the mess he’s making of our relationship—political and economic—with the People’s Republic of China; the mess he’s making of our relationship with Russia, including our growing oil and gas dependency on it; the mess he’s making of the present Ukraine crisis.

Stream of reaction—it just doesn’t work in the real world, except for the nation initiating the action.

Congressman Jamaal Bowman (D, NY) has finally arrived. He’s made the big time.

New York Democratic Jamaal Bowman was arrested Thursday alongside more than two-dozen other protesters at the U.S. Capitol as they demanded the Senate alter its 60-vote legislative filibuster pass key tenets of the lawmaker’s political party.
A Bowman spokesperson said the first-term congressman took part in a “voting rights non-violent direct action at the North Barricade of the US Capitol Building and was arrested by the US Capitol Police.”

Got his arrest record, now. He can put a star on his calendar and his arrest Certificate of Achievement on his hero wall in his office.

Woo hoo.

Talking Past Each Other

Or one not taking the other seriously. The disconnect between President Joe Biden-Kamala Harris and Russian President Vladimir Putin—or the fact that Putin doesn’t take the Biden-Harris administration seriously—doesn’t get much more clearly demonstrated than by this lead image from a Friday Wall Street Journal article about continuing US-Russia “negotiations” regarding Ukraine.

Negotiating

Ex-SEC Chairman Arthur Levitt Jr. had some thoughts on negotiating in his take on the relationship between the Biden-Harris White House and Congress. In one thought in particular, though, Levitt is badly…off.

Governance takes two. If a director opposed the CEO without proposing something better, he’d be ignored. In Washington, Republicans don’t seem interested in negotiating. … Republicans, you can oppose, but if you have an opportunity to shape policy, take it.

Levitt badly misunderstands. Progressive-Democrat Ocasio-Cortez openly hoped for Progressive-Democrat control of Senate explicitly so Party would not need to negotiate with Republicans.

Republicans have often tried to negotiate, only to be told “we won, you lost.” The last time Progressive-Democrats controlled Senate, then-Majority Leader Reid routinely “filled the tree” precisely to prevent Republicans from offering amendments.

Progressive-Democrats have already passed one reconciliation bill so as to exclude Republican amendments, and they’re bent on same a second time. They’re also determined to blow up up the filibuster so they no longer have need even to pay lip service to negotiating.

Where is this “opportunity” of which Levitt wrote for Republicans to shape policy with Progressive-Democrats refusing to negotiate?

President Joe Biden (D) often says it’s his goal to fundamentally change America. How is it possible to negotiate with a Party that refuses to negotiate and that is openly bent on destroying the republican democracy that is the United States and to remake us into their image?
