The NFL’s Failure

The National Football League has decided the nonsense of social justice messaging—carefully unbalanced messaging, even—is more important than playing football.

The NFL reportedly unveiled on Monday its social justice plans for Week 1 of the upcoming season, which includes optional decals players can place on their helmet and messages that could be placed in each end zone.
Players who opt to wear the decal will be given a list of names or they can choose a “victim of systematic racism who is not on that list,” NFL executive Anna Isaacson told teams

But no decals of Audie Murphy or William Carney. No messages like Blue Lives Matter or All Lives Matter in the end zones.

And the NFL’s policy of allowing players to disrespect—to denigrate—our nation’s anthem, our nation’s flag, to insult the generations of Americans who have fought, been maimed, died defending those symbols of our great nation—that continues unchanged.

The NFL has lost me.

Preserving the Peace

Christopher Columbus statues in Chicago’s Grant and Arrigo parks were taken down under cover of darkness in the wee hours of last Friday. Grant Park is in downtown Chicago, but Arrigo Park is in the heart of Chicago’s Little Italy.

The city’s tear-down was done in direct response to the prior week’s “protesters'” violence when they tried to rip the statues down themselves.

Chicago’s mayor, Lori Lightfoot (D), issued a statement about her government’s complicity in the statue takedown.

This step is about an effort to protect public safety and to preserve a safe space for an inclusive and democratic public dialogue about our city’s symbols[.]

Because surrendering to the demands and threats of a violent minority is the path to inclusivity and democratic dialogue.

Because utterly ignoring Americans of Italian heritage regarding a symbol of an Italian hero is purely inclusive and encouraging of democratic dialog.

Because ignoring a majority of Americans regarding a symbol of an American hero is purely inclusive and encouraging of democratic dialog.

Because doing things in the dark of night is the public way of action.

Surrender and appeasement—they’ll bring peace. Absolutely they will. The peace of tyranny.

Joe Biden and Racism

Progressive-Democratic Party Presidential candidate Joe Biden accused President Donald Trump of being a racist in a virtual session last week.

[N]o sitting president has ever done this [spreading racism]. Never, never, never. No Republican president has done this. No Democratic president. We’ve had racists and they’ve existed and they’ve tried to get elected president. He’s the first one that has.

Leaving aside the fundamental racism of making racist accusations with no foundation for them, Biden needs to get a better high school intern to do his research.

It’s hard to find a more overtly racist President than the Democrat Woodrow Wilson, who among other things, infamously said to a black journalist that blacks should be grateful for the protections of segregation. Wilson said that to explain why he was so thoroughly resegregating the Federal government after successive Republican administrations had integrated it over the course of the post-bellum decades.

Progressive-Democratic Party Presidential candidate Joe Biden has a plan for the Federal Reserve system of banks. This bit jumped out at me in the article at the link that describes his plan.

[T]he policy blueprint Team Biden cooked up with Bernie Sanders’s economic advisers argues, “the Black unemployment rate is persistently higher than the national average, which is why Democrats support making racial equity part of the mandate of the Federal Reserve.”

Because blacks are fundamentally incapable of competing in America without special treatment. This is the soft bigotry of low expectations.

This is the overt bigotry of the Progressive-Democratic Party and of Joe Biden—If you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black—made manifest.

Peaceful Protesting, Portland Style

Several times the Portland police have had to declare a riot in progress in response to Portland’s peaceful protests and the peaceful protesters’ behavior. Saturday was the third time in a row.

Protesters broke into a building, set it on fire and started dumpster fires late Saturday night in Oregon’s largest city, police said….

And

On Saturday evening, two groups of antifa and Black Lives Matter rioters terrorized Portland, squaring off against police and federal troops. One group attacked the Portland Police Bureau’s North Precinct and the Portland Police Association (PPA)—the police union—while the other group targeted the federal courthouse and Justice Center, returning to set yet another bonfire at the ruins of the elk statue nearby. Antifa broke into the PPA and set it on fire.

But these are peaceful protests. Portland City Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty says so.

…thousands of Portlanders came out to exercise our constitutional right to free speech and peaceful assembly.

This is the Newspeak of today’s Progressive-Democratic Party.
