Some Climate Thoughts

Here are the comments of a number of those pushing climate change/global warming/global cooling without regard to whether humans play any sort of significant role in…whatever it is.

Stephen Schneider:

On the one hand we are ethically bound to the scientific method, in effect promising to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but, which means that we must include all the doubts, caveats, ifs and buts.  On the other hand, we are not just scientists, but human beings as well.  …  So we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements, and make little mention of any doubts we might have.

Ottmar Edenhofer:

One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy.  This has almost nothing to do with the environmental policy anymore, with problems such as deforestation or the ozone hole….  We redistribute de facto the world’s wealth by climate policy[.]

Christiana Figueres:

This is the first time in the history of mankind that we are setting ourselves the task of intentionally, within a defined period of time, to change the economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the Industrial Revolution[.]

Timothy Wirth:

We’ve got to ride the global warming issue.  Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing.…

In sum: lie, it’s for a good cause.

  1. As opposed to anecdotal evidence of this or that storm, this or that numerical simulation, or this or that theory that the seas will rise 5 m; the actual data up to now show that fears of imminent climate catastrophe are either wildly overstated, or else involve processes occurring since long before excess CO

  2. …the actual data up to now….

Such as they are. Data liked carefully cherry picked SIberian tree ring data, weather stations failed due to age and maintenance in the Australian interior whose missing data are supplied by weather stations 700 miles away on the coast, data claiming atmospheric CO2 is a pollutant, when it’s plant food and it lags–not leads–global warming by 800-1800 years, confirming burgeoning life exhaling CO2, ice core data reaching back 400k years from both Greenland and Antarctica showing atmospheric CO2 much higher than now, data showing we’re presently much cooler than the long-term global warming trend line, and on and on and on.

And all these data feed climate “models” that can’t simultaneously predict the past and the present.
